The start of the new school year brings a multitude of challenges, for learners and parents alike. One of these challenges, is the lack of school shoes by learners throughout the Buffalo City Municipality.

School shoes are more than a practicality or a mandatory part of the uniform; they are a symbol of hope and empowerment. Without them, children are exposed to the elements as they make their way to school, as well as the stigma of poverty, leading to increased absenteeism, and a lack of self-esteem. By donating school shoes, you not only provide physical protection but also contribute to a child’s overall well-being and educational journey.

SBRI identified Sinovuyo Secondary School as one with learners who faced such a challenge and decided to start their year with a new pair of school shoes.

Learners were nominated by their teachers to receive a pair of shoes, along with words of encouragement from our team as they spent the morning getting to know each other.

We are honoured to serve the communities that we work with and are inspired to continue to identify areas for improvement and support, within the Buffalo City Municipality.
