On September 27, 2024, SBRI celebrated Heritage Day with a vibrant event honouring the cultural diversity that defines South Africa. This gathering, held just days after the official Heritage Day on September 24, allowed staff to come together in a spirit of unity and appreciation for their varied backgrounds.

The atmosphere was alive with colour and joy as team members donned traditional outfits, showcasing the rich tapestry of South African culture. Each department contributed to the festivities by bringing traditional dishes that reflected their unique heritages. The culinary exchange not only tantalized taste buds but also sparked conversations about the stories behind each dish, fostering a deeper understanding of one another’s cultures.

A highlight of the day was the spirited karaoke session, where staff members passionately sang songs from different cultural backgrounds. This musical celebration emphasized the power of song to bridge gaps and create connections among colleagues.

In a delightful twist, our Community team was crowned the Heritage Dress Winners for their stunning traditional attire, embodying the essence of the day’s celebration, and the Laboratory and Pharmacy teams won the Dish of the day. Their recognition served as a reminder of how individual expression contributes to our collective identity.
